My book journey so far
I was asked what my book journey has been like and what it is that I can share with you. To be frank, I must say that it has been an extraordinary journey from the start, especially as writing was not my profession or even on my radar to pursue. But what I can say looking back, is that when something is destined for you, it will appear and keep re-appearing on your path.
Does this mean that you must engage with it? Not at all, the choice is entirely yours in the end…
How to 4U
From vision to mind map - The vision to write a book came in my mind in 2019 and it is only by end 2020 that I completed the first mind map draft as I needed time to adjust to the unexpected thought of becoming a writer. Once the mind map was ready, it was easier to start writing with a clear framework as the direction has been set and I could engage in the creative process.
Listen to what that vision is trying to tell you or show you especially if you are in doubt at first. If it comes back, try to brainstorm a few ideas around the topic and see how what comes out can benefit others in case you decide to put work into it.
From writing to editing - The first part of my writing started in 2021 but had to be put on hold for about 3 years due to my corporate professional life and traveling requirements. I finally resumed writing in 2025 and decided this time, to accelerate the process as I had been given a window of opportunity, offering me more flexibility time wise. Within few months, the manuscript and I could start a collaboration with an editor for the review of the manuscript, with an art designer for the book cover etc.
Ensure that you get to know the team, freelance professionals etc. who will work with you, so that you make your expectations clear from the start and allow them to share theirs.
From marketing to book release - The marketing process, requests the author’s commitment and engagement from the start, through pre- launch book presentations, creation of flyers, posters or any other preferred marketing tools such as social media posting, podcast interviewing etc. Additionally, to the author’s activities, other professionals support can be added through, marketing teams, banner promotions, You Tube promotions, advertisements etc. As many books are published every year, it is important to stay active with the promotion of your book, even after your book is released.
Do your individual research when it comes to deciding if you want to Self-publish, work with an Indie publisher, Traditional publisher etc.
*My book is due to be released early 2026, stay tuned!
