Overthinking
Do you know that feeling of experiencing a never-ending thought process? Where you go from thinking, to rehearsing past situations, to eventually ending up in a viscous circle of “play - review - repeat”? That may seem impossible to break, especially when you have no idea where to start.
Well, I have good news for you, as there are ways to free your mind.
How to 4U
Ask yourself what you find most unpleasant in the overthinking situation. Is it causing a lack of sleep, creating anxiety or even affecting your productivity? In order for you to be able to adjust anything, you first need to identity what the real issue it.
Trust the process by observing, reflecting on what comes up.
Write down everything that came to mind, allowing to transition the “container holder” of your recurring thoughts from your mind to a piece of paper, a journal, an iPad or on any other form of recording device.
This simple act, of writing things down, has enormous benefits as it starts with clearing up your mental space, and permits a “brain dump” of all those stuck ideas and thoughts outside of your mind.
Repeat this process until you feel that the “play - review - repeat” cycle has been broken and no longer affects your everyday life.
Liberating your mind, can truly start with the simple act of writing things down, not only to give them a new place but to allow yourself to come back to them when you choose to do so.
