Gratitude is gold, try it

As children, we are told and reminded to say ‘thank you’ on a daily basis. So, why is it, that we often grow up forgetting to be appreciative for what we have, and what we have experienced? One of the first reason I can think of, is the fact that we are programmed to focus on what we do not have, in other words to focus on the lack. The second reason, is that we take so many things for granted, that we never realize how precious it is or even considering that we could one day be without it.

So, what can we do to remember the magic of gratitude?

How to 4U

  • Take time to express gratitude. If this is new for you, start by searching for something which touched your heart or stood with you earlier that day, week or during the period of time you are going back in time for.

    • By intentionally pausing and reflecting, you become mindful and appreciative.

  • Build the habit of feeling and being grateful on a frequent basis - Doing it once occasionally, may end up fading away, especially if you have a busy schedule.

    • Repetition is what makes new things become normal, therefore remember to build your gratitude muscle.

  • Incorporate it in different areas of your life - You may be grateful for the support of a loved one, a great cooperation with a colleague, a pleasant interaction with a stranger, a gift or simply the weather.

    • By applying gratitude across the board, you will naturally go back to it and feel your spirit elevated, time and time again.
